What is St Mike’s Youth?
St Mike’s Youth are the young people aged 11-18 of St Michael’s Church in Southfields. Young people who want to reflect Jesus through the way they live their lives in thoughts, words and actions. St Mike’s Youth is a place for faith, friendship, community, outreach and a lot of fun!
Sundays 6pm
On Sundays we meet during The Six service for worship, games and Bible teaching. It’s a relaxed and friendly atmosphere where we can encourage each other on our journeys with God.
Our usual routine is to meet as a whole in St Michael’s Church on the 1st Sunday of every month. We then meet for youth gatherings at St Michael’s Church on the other Sundays of the month through the winter, and on St Michael’s Church field (on Viewfield Road) through the Summer months.
Fridays 7:30-9pm
During term time we run a Friday night youth club at St Mike’s Youth.
It’s a space for young people (school years 7-13) to come and relax, have fun and make new & lasting friendships.
This happens at St Michael’s Church Cafe in the Winter & on the Church Field in the Summer. Young people can enjoy table tennis, a nail bar, creative crafty space, tuck shop, computer games and plenty more every week.
We also run some Fridays differently with wide games, trips out and plenty of other exciting activities.
Throughout the year we run plenty of midweek activities for our Youth.
These include a study space in partnership with St Mike's Cafe, a youth cafe and cell groups for each year group.
Cell Groups
Cell groups are where we gather together, usually as a year group & split boys/girls, to talk all things youth. These are often led by questions that the youth have about Christianity & what it means to be a Christian today. As a flavour of what we talk about, we’ve run bible studies, youth alpha and series on gossip. We also have a hot chocolate/snack together & play games.
These cell groups are a great time for the young people to dive deeper with God and build strong & lasting friendships with each other.
Events
Throughout the year, St Mike’s Youth get involved in different events - some residentials and others are just days or evenings out.
These include:
The Big Church Festival,
Dreaming The Impossible (DTI),
Socials,
October Light Party Halloween Alternative,
Joint Events with other churches,
Septemberfields Youth Festival on our church field…
… and much more!
Join the Team
We have a great youth team that run all of our youth activities at St Michael’s Church, but we are always needing more people to help. There are plenty of ways you can help, with our youth team volunteers helping us to run Sunday services, Friday night youth, fortnightly cell groups, Youth camping trips and much more, with some volunteering weekly and others helping once a term.
Could you be part of the team?
If you are thinking you’d like to help, whether you have lots of free time or only a little time, whether you have plenty of experience working with teenagers or not much we’d love to chat to you.
What happens next?
drop us an email at youth@stmikes-ststeves.org.uk letting us know that you are interested
We’ll meet up for a chat
If we feel it’s a good fit then we’ll do some training & DBS checks
We’ll then get you involved in the youth activities that work best
